If Yule Have Me

With her grandmother’s passing, Luna Emerson is alone for Yule for the first time. Rather than wallow in sadness at being the lone witch in her line, she heads to a local Holiday Market to pick up last-minute gifts before she goes to her father’s cabin for his side of the family’s annual Christmas gathering. While perusing the wares at a vendor specializing in pagan goods, she reaches for a journal at the same time a ‘ridiculously attractive’ fellow shopper does. Needing to escape this stranger who keeps making her blush with his flirty double entendres, she tells him he can have the journal before disappearing into the crowd.

Left holding a journal and intrigued by the woman he believes might be a witch, Kaine Blackwood realizes he can’t just let things go at that. Being an incubus, a demon who feeds off sexual energy, he wants to partake in her witch energy. Purchasing the journal and tracking down the woman, he gives her the gift and asks her to dinner. After an enjoyable evening of shopping, eating, and walking through a Christmas light display, she invites him back to her apartment.

On their way, they are held at gunpoint by a robber demanding their valuables. Kaine allows his demon face to slip through, hoping to scare off the robber—and he does. But not before being shot multiple times in the chest. In his hurry to leave the area, he asks Luna where her apartment is. When they arrive at her apartment, she is quick to spring into action to help heal him, but he doesn’t need it.

He reveals to her that he’s an incubus, and she grows suspicious of his motives. When she sends him away, he offers her a night of pleasure in exchange for letting him have some of her witch energy. She makes a deal with him: she’ll take him up on his offer if he accompanies her to her family’s Christmas gathering and plays the part of the dutiful boyfriend so that she can buy a few months of peace from her dad’s constant inquiries into whether she’s dating anyone.
Kaine readily agrees, not for the witch energy, because he can’t imagine saying goodbye to this enchanting witch quite yet. When they arrive at the cabin, Luna is shocked to find her ex-boyfriend is the person that her cousin is dating, especially when things had ended so badly that she told him she’d go to the police if he didn’t stop harassing her.

Kaine promises to keep Luna safe from her ex, whose intentions seem sinister, during the day, all while taking her on journeys of insatiable lust through her dreams, that he can control, at night. As they play the part of the happy couple, the looming return home makes them both contemplate how much they’re actually playing those parts.
