Welcome

Audrey is finally moving into her first home. After years of scrimping and saving, she’s managed to secure a place of her own. When a man shows up soon after she’s said goodbye to the movers, she’s happy to make a friend in the neighborhood. Mark lends her a hand with painting and unpacking as the two of them fight chemistry neither can deny.

Despite some things being off, Audrey is content to overlook them as long as Mark’s hands are on her. That is until she discovers the truth: Mark hasn’t lived in the neighborhood for five years.

Tropes: secret identity, forced proximity, neighbors, new in town, M/F, slowish burn, just make a move already

Content Warnings
Alcohol Consumption – The FMC and MMC drink alcohol with their meals and when they first meet
Death – The MMC is a ghost. He died of a brain aneurysm five years ago and has haunted the house ever since. His death occurred off-page, but he does make references to the day it happened (and the following ones) and how he was looking down at his body.
Dark Humor – The MMC makes several jokes and off-handed comments about death or dying that would be a little dark if the FMC knew he was dead the whole time.
Unrealized Housemate – The MMC doesn’t tell FMC that he exists in her home. When she finds out she feels this is an invasion of privacy.
Lies of Omission – The MMC never tells the FMC he’s a ghost haunting her house until she confronts him about it. He doesn’t tell her how to contact him or which house he lives in, only that he’s a neighbor.
